Logan and his Brother Noah are twins. But with one big thing that makes them different. Logan was born with a with complex congenital heart disease. So far at 11 months old he has has 3 major open heart surgeries and numerous hospitalizations. But so far nothing has fixed the problem. Logan now needs a surgery that only the doctors at Boston Childrens Hospital can perform.
Along the way the medical bills that werent covered by insurance have piled up. And with this upcoming trip the travel expenses, food, boarding, and the upkeep of life and bills back at home will be hard for this family. Ashley, Logans mom has had a hard time working a full time job while trying to also be at home with Logan. And Logan and Noah’s father works to make ends meet and to support a young family of 4.
Please help us raise money to support this baby boy as he prepares to make a long journey to Boston for a surgery that will hopefully change his life for the better.
Below is a note from Logan’s cardiologist that explains more about Logan’s condition:
Logan Packenham – Little Heart with a Big Problem
Logan Packenham of Whitsett was born August 6, 2009. He is now nearly 11 months of age. But instead of planning Logan and his twin brother’s first birthday party, Logan’s parents are planning for Logan’s fourth heart operation. Logan was born with complex congenital heart disease, which is the term physicians use to describe complicated birth defects of the heart. Instead of two well-developed separate pumping chambers, Logan has a large hole in the wall separating the pumping chambers, and the major vessels leaving the heart are crossed and both come off one pumping chamber. The aorta, which carries oxygenated blood away from the heart to the body was underdeveloped at birth and required repair when Logan was 7 weeks old. Because of inadequate blood flow to the lungs, and blockage of flow under the aortic valve, Logan required operations at 5 months and again at 9 ½ months of age.
In spite of these previous operations, Logan’s circulation remains very abnormal, and he remains blue due to reduced oxygen in his bloodstream. Logan needs his next operation in the near future. Logan’s physicians have recommended that Logan have his next heart surgery at Children’s Hospital, Boston, one of the very best children’s heart surgery programs in the country. Logan and his family need your help to meet expenses not covered by insurance. Please help Logan get the life-saving surgery he needs at Children’s Hospital Boston.
WE WILL BE HOLDING PET PORTRAITS ON AUGUST 14 AT TANGLEWOOD PARK. 100% OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE PACKENHAM FAMILY. THIS WILL HELP THEM RAISE THE FUNDS TO MAKE THAT TRIP TO BOSTON, THE MEDICAL EXPENSES OF THE SURGERY AND TO COVER THE COST OF HIS MOM TO STAY THERE WITH HIM AS HE RECOVERS IN THE WEEKS AFTER THE SURGERY.
IF YOU HAVE FURRY CHILDREN AND WOULD LIKE TO SCHEDULE A SESSION FOR PLAYFUL, FULL OF PERSONALITY, TOTALLY UNLEASHED IMAGES OF YOUR BEST FRIEND, PLEASE LET US KNOW. THESE SESSIONS WILL BE $150 EACH AND WILL INCLUDE A DISC OF IMAGES FOR YOUR PRINTING PLEASURE!
WANT TO MAKE A DONATION? SIMPLY GIVE US A SHOUT AND WE’LL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO LET YOU KNOW HOW.
THANKS FOR HELPING!
